The Upper Back

How I treat the Upper Back

I begin each treatment with you lying comfortably face down, supported with a bolster beneath your ankles to encourage relaxation and proper body alignment.

Once you're comfortable, I carefully assess the muscles of the upper back, shoulders and around the shoulder blades to identify areas of restriction, tension and overactive muscles. I avoid placing unnecessary pressure directly over the spine or joints, instead working precisely through the surrounding muscles and connective tissue where the dysfunction is occurring.

I then firmly work through the thick fascia using deep gliding techniques and accurate trigger point therapy to release years of built-up stress, tension and protective guarding. Particular attention is given to the muscles around the shoulder blades, rotator cuff and base of the neck, helping to clear out old unwanted tension, restore movement and leave your upper back feeling lighter and moving more freely.
